For Prospective Students
I plan on accepting doctoral students for the 2026-2027 academic year. Please note that the application deadline for the University of Kentucky’s counseling psychology doctoral program is December 1st. You can learn more about the program here.

My Mentoring Style:
My network of mentors has been a tremendous support throughout my educational and professional trajectories. I believe wholeheartedly in paying that forward, and mentoring students is one of my favorite parts of my job. Critical intersectional feminism and relational-cultural theory shape my mentoring style. Core characteristics of my mentoring include:

-
prioritizing students’ wellbeing in the midst of academic demands, sociopolitical climate, and manifestations of oppression within and outside of academia;
-
recognizing myself and my students as cultural beings and navigating ways that privilege, power, and oppression show up in our relationship;
-
developing safe, trusting, and supportive mentoring relationships focused on my students’ educational and career goals; and
-
sharing and receiving positive and constructive feedback in accessible ways from a place of trust and care.

For Prospective Doctoral Students:
You do not need to email me before you apply, although you’re welcome to reach out with inquiries about current projects and with any questions not addressed by the University of Kentucky program, department, and Graduate School websites. Please articulate your interest in working with me in your application’s Statement of Purpose. Doctoral students who make the best fit for my lab have interest in my program of research, are conscientious and demonstrate a strong work ethic, desire to learn more about themselves and others as cultural beings, and are eager to work toward liberation.
